Interview: Janie Fricke remembers country queen Lynn Anderson

"Lynn Anderson was one of the first stars to give me a chance at concert work, singing harmony behind her," Fricke recalled. "She played super great venues and it was exciting to have that stage experience."

Fricke added, "One night, on her private plane headed to a show, the wing caught fire, so we made an emergency landing in a wheat field, but we went on in to do the concert. We could have been a statistic that night. May God watch over her and her family now, as he did that night."

Throughout her career in country music, Fricke was crowned "Top Female Vocalist" by the Academy of Country Music (ACM) in 1983, and "Female Vocalist of the Year" two times by the Country Music Association (CMA), in 1982 and 1983. Fricke was nominated three times for the Grammy award for "Best Female Country Vocal Performance."

Ironically enough, last summer, both Fricke and Anderson made Digital Journal's list of "5 Overdue Female Artists for Country Music Hall of Fame Induction."

janiecollectionDALLAS, TX (July 2, 2015) – Janie Fricke, a two-time “CMA Female Vocalist of the Year,” past Grammy nominee, and a voice of some of the most recognizable advertising jingles ever, has yet another passion, textiles and fabrics.

The Janie Fricke Collection is a line of fine home accents, whose fabrics are personally selected and cut by Janie herself to create one of a kind designs. Janie has turned her life-long knowledge of fabric and sewing skills, a family tradition, into the Janie Fricke Collection. This specialized high end brand of products includes decorative pillows, throws, table runners, seasonal items as well as a line of customized “bling” items that she terms “ranch chic.”

“My mother and grandmother sewed so I've been doing this since I was very young,” says Fricke. “They never really taught me but I just watched and started to pick up on it, and have always made my own designs. I've made things for friends and family for years but someone pushed me to start my own collection and it’s turned into a second career.”

JFC is carried in specialty boutiques around the country and is showcased in the Dallas, TX showroom Touch of France, located in the prestigious Dallas World Trade Center. Items are available at for retail and wholesale market buyers. With the popularity of her line, Janie has recently launched specifically for professional interior designers highlighting her products and fabrics.

It was a star-studded ACM's Awards night in Arlington, TX and when we saw the spectacular show and crowd, we were amazed at the logistics and organization of it all. I'd like to thank Webster PR and his amazing team for arranging us past award winners to attend, and being involved all the way down the Red Carpet, with interviews of every kind backstage.

We had great seats next to the stage and met many stars that evening, so it was truly a treat we will always remember.

Hope to see you all down the road! Love Ya!

Janie Fricke
